No pressure, no performance, no need to have it all together. Just the Good News of Jesus, simply and honestly shared. You are welcome exactly as you are.OUR RHYTHMSThe Walks: We gather in Midlothian for Muddy Church style family prayer walks and outdoor devotions. A space to wander, wonder, and connect with God side-by-side on the trail.FORAll are welcome! We believe deeply in the "whosoever of the gospel." Children are entirely welcome with their adults—and we understand that calm doesn't always mean quiet. Those who need additional support are, of course, welcome alongside their parents or carers.
👣 Please note: Children and individuals requiring extra support remain under the direct care and supervision of their parents or carers at all times.WHOI'm David (aka Dave) I live in Gorebridge and I created this fellowship because I needed somewhere gentle to belong. I believe others do too.
I am a Theology graduate (HTC/UHI) in conversation with various movements to explore missional pioneering in Scotland. I am also autistic, a carer for my own complex needs family, and a Learning Assistant at an outdoor early years nursery. I am currently completing my Mencap Gateway Bronze Award and just finished Prescribe Nature at Newbattle Abbey College. I am also a Companion of Jesus.OUR SENSORY-FRIENDLY APPROACHWe believe that standard, indoor, brightly-lit church environments can often create sensory overload. By moving outdoors, we utilize God’s creation as a natural, regulatory space.
No Performance: No forced eye contact, no expectation to sit still, and no pressure to conform.
Regulating Environment: The natural sounds, open air, and physical movement of a walking fellowship provide a gentle, calming sensory input.
Low-Demand Spaces: Total freedom to engage with the group, walk slightly apart, or simply listen to the outdoor devotions in a way that feels safe for your nervous system.TAKE HEART: A GENTLE CATECHISMTheology doesn't have to be heavy or complicated. Take Heart is a simple, question-and-answer guide to the Christian faith, for life's trails. It focuses entirely on the wild grace of the Gospel, the love of Jesus, and finding our quiet place of belonging in Him. Find it below, in the Links section, for your consideration.LINKS

DISCLAIMER(A Gentle and Kind Disclaimer)As mentioned parents and carers remain in charge of looking after their own family. In addition, this Muddy Church is a community walk in nature. We look out for each other, but please remember that the woods can be uneven and muddy! By joining us, you agree to take care of your own safety and look after your own footwear and belongings. We are a micro-church—a small, gentle, outdoor gathering for a handful of families and individuals to connect with God and nature together. We have no interest in becoming a mega church or tour guide company. We will likely cap our numbers at roughly twelve people each session. This is for everyones benefit and also to protect the nature we live in.Thank you in advance.
